A sports parent asks:
Do you have any ideas for indoor games that give my kids some exercise and help them burn off some energy when the weather keeps them inside?
You are not alone in wondering what to do with the kids when the weather holds them inside. Your kids will probably go a little stir crazy and start jumping on the furniture. But maybe you can keep them off the couches and beds with these fun ideas:
Arcade Toss: uses rolled up socks, ping-pong balls or foam balls for target practice.
Balloon Decathalon: using blown-up balloons, these games will take your breath away.
How about the old standbyes? Beanbag race and beanbag throw.
Beat the clock: if you’ve got an egg timer and paper plates or cups, and simple household items, you’re ready to play.
Bocce Ball: Bocce ball with a twist.
Discus Throw: paper plates for this one.
Grid game : poster board and bean bags.
Long Jump: only need string and some kind of object to use as a marker.
Newspaper Golf: got some spare or old golf or tennis balls?
Table Hockey: popsicle stick + paper + books= fun
Tabletop Basketball: ping-pong balls and paper cups…a lot easier on the ankles!
