How to be sure your athlete gets good nutrition for lunch

What's for lunch today?

As you send your athlete off to school each day, you know it’s important to pack them a lunch that will give them good nutrition they for their busy day of school, practices and games.

Making lunches is a chore I hated for years. And part of the reason was that I didn’t have the time or energy to be creative. My lunch-making often fell into a rut and though my kids rarely complained, I know that my lunch-making skills left much to be desired.

If your kids play school sports, it gets even more complicated.

Parents of athletes often have to rush home after practices or games, feed the kids, help them do homework, get them to bed and then….you get to make lunches! And on top of that, it must be a lunch filled with good nutrition.

If you are anything like me, coming up with good lunch ideas is the last thing you want to do after a long day. And if your kids play sports, there is the added pressure of making a lunch that will give their active bodies all the nutrients they need.

Lunch-making just got fun

Let me introduce you to your new best friend…MOMables™.  MOMables.com is a site that provides fresh school lunch menus by subscription and is focused on feeding children uncomplicated yet good food.

Each Friday a new weekly menu plan and a shopping list will be available to paid subscribers. You log in,  print it, shop, and prepare!

All of MOMables‘ recipes have photos of the homemade lunch showing what the meal looks like and most of the recipes you can make ahead of schedule to avoid the morning rush.

Dare I say it? Lunch-making just got fun!

Well, if you’re like me, it will not ever be fun, but it can at least become painless and you will know that your young athletes are eating nutricious meals–meals that will give them the good food they need for energy to play sports– although they’ll think it’s just plain good.

10 years too late for me…right on time for you!

Unfortunately for me, MOMables is about 10 years too late. My kids are all grown and I am only making lunches for my husband to take to work…hmmm…I wonder if he’d like their menus?

But MOMables is right on time for you if your kids are still in school. The cost is no more than a weekly magazine rate and it is one subscription you will always want to read!

I seriously love this idea!

Learn more from their FAQs. Follow MOMables on Facebook and Twitter. Their website also offers a blog with great recipe ideas.

Yes, this is a paid review. But I stand by my promise to only review products that will help sports parents and their young athletes have a better youth sports experience.

  1. This is great information. I have one child in the 1st grade and she is very picky. It’s so hard to pack something nutritious for her. Thanks for the tips!
