Capturing youth sports memories: Burst it!
Capturing and preserving memories when our kids are young and playing youth sports is now easier than ever.
With smart phones in hand, parents can take pictures and videos very easily.
The problem is, by the time we send the video to gramma and grampa, the game is over and the excitement of the moment is a memory. A good one, for sure, but still.
I’ve discovered a new app called Burst, which makes taking and sharing videos on the spot so easy that even I–video challenged that I am–had it figured out in a matter of moments.
What is Burst?
Burst is a simple and private way to capture, save and share life’s important moments with family and close friends. It provides a safe and organized place to access your videos/photos from any internet enabled device. It is easy and mobile- never miss or lose another moment again.
Each Burst account includes:
- Free mobile application for both iPhone and Android devices
- Secure storage and backup of all your photos and videos
- Sharing with an unlimited amount of private groups
- Videos up to five minutes in length
- Personal web media dashboards accessible from any computer, tablet or mobile phone
- Calendar integration with the mobile phone (Burst can work your mobile calendar and auto-title videos and photos taken during any scheduled event).
- Strict Privacy Standards
For now, Burst is free. In the future, Burst.it may launch a freemium model where most Burst features and services are free but may have limited storage space. An upgrade would give additional storage and editorial benefits on the Burst.it. site.
Share the moment NOW
When you decide to share a photo or video you take with Burst, select one and tap the “share” option. Burst immediately integrates with your phone address book and enables you to easily choose the recipients or group. You can share to a mobile number or an email address. It’s easy to make a group and add the people to it. For instance, I created one called “Meredith Memories” and will add immediate family members to it.
You can also share your Burst with Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other public forums (coming in the next couple of months).
Bubbles!
Bubbles is a unique Burst feature that allows you to get the whole story. Let’s say you are at your child’s game, but you can’t possibly catch every single special moment. With Bubbles, you can invite friends or family to a Bubble and merge your selected moments together into a shared stream.
With Burst Bubbles, you automatically, and in real-time, have a treasured collection of shared memories. When you create a bubble, you give it a name and as you save video/photos, it is all collected into a bubble. When the bubble event ends, everyone in the bubble gets an email with the content.
Check out Burst, I think you’ll be excited at how easy and fun it is. Do you have a game today? Burst it!
