It’s nearly two weeks after Christmas. The tree is down, the decorations almost put away. And sadly, our two college kids have returned to school. All that remains of our family Christmas season is stale holiday treats and sweet memories.
Makes me sad. The comings and goings, the goodbyes, the hugs. We aniticipate, we count days, and then the time comes and goes so quickly it makes our heads spin. Sadly, in this life, the party always has to end.
As I’ve relived the wonderful Christmas holiday we had as a family, it occurred to me that one day we will have a family holiday that will last for an eternity. No separations, no goodbyes and, incidentally, no family feuds! We can play nertz for days and weeks and months, eat as much food as we want without getting fat, open presents forever, dance all night every night, and never, ever get tired and cranky.
Isn’t it just like God to throw us a party that never ends?
