Cycling has a reputation for being a fun family sport, and I really shouldn’t have to convince you that it’s a great way to spend time with your family. If you haven’t biked as a family, it’s not too late to invest in some bikes (get used if you want to keep the price down) and hit the road with your kids.
Cycling is not just good for family, it’s good for sports
Here’s another thing about biking that you may not have considered: there are actually more benefits to it than just quality time with your kids. Once you find a good kids’ bike that provides a comfortable and fun ride, think about these other reasons that cycling can be good for your athlete:
- It is great exercise
- It is a low-impact sports and it doesn’t tax the joints, bones or ligaments
- It improves leg strength
- It improves endurance . It’s a cardiovascular activity that, when done for long periods of time, can improve cardio strength which means your child will be able to run longer without feeling tired.
- It is a lower body strength builder. As your kid gets better at cycling, his leg strength will increase, which is important in just about every sport your child plays. It will help your child build muscles that will enable him to kick harder when doing martial arts or kick the ball further when playing soccer.
- It improves balance and coordination, which is useful for every sport.
Cycling with your kids is a win/win situation for all of you. Enjoy the ride!
