The 5 Biggest Mistakes I Made as a Sports Parent and How You Can Avoid Them!

Family Vacations: How to Cut Down on the Conflict

May 2, 2014 by Janis

Family vacations are a blast!  Or maybe not?

Part of the problem with them is that we often have such high expectations of how wonderful vacation will be simply because we are so ready to be done with the rat race and get away for awhile.

But the honest truth is that choosing and planning a getaway that pleases every family member can be quite a challenge, especially if your children’s ages are scattered.

You may as well face the facts: You will never please everyone all of the time. Every leader must understand this fact and it’s no different in parenting.

So, what’s a parent to do? When you cannot please every family member, what’s the best way to plan a vacation? Perhaps these ideas that I wrote for Less Than Perfect Parents will cut down on conflict in your home.

Lol. So true. We have a large family, long time we have learned that you can please everyone. We usually have a “talk” about this before a vacation or a trip. it helps

My wife and I have found that if we limit screen time, the kids actually get along better during vacation. They wind up fighting to play on our iphones so we just make it a rule that Iphones are not for use during vacations. It helps us too, to step away from our daily usage as that can be a lot for the adults.
