Sports moms and dads who love, support, and are positive voices into their kids are all rock-star sports parents in my book.
But these sports moms should get an extra loud cheer, don’t you agree?
You might have seen this commercial during the Olympics. I loved it.
Take one minute and watch these rock star sports moms…
I think one of the things that speaks the loudest to me in this commercial clip is the fact that these moms could have held their kids back with the excuse that they were protecting their kids from hurt and disappointment and no one would have questioned or blamed them. But they didn’t. They could have kept their kids from feeling pain. But they didn’t.
That goes against every fiber of our being as parents. It sometimes take every bit of strength I can muster not to step in and fix things. We hate to see our kids in pain. We desperately want to smooth their paths, take away their hurt, and guard them from feeling pain. But we can’t always do that. And we shouldn’t always do that.
These rock-star moms remind me that our kids need us to be strong enough to let them go, so that they will grow up strong too.
